The King's Grief — The Happenstancers

Reilly returns to The Happenstancers on November 6 and 7 to perform Judith Weir’s King Harald’s Saga, a one-woman opera in which she plays nine characters in eleven unaccompanied minutes, and to reprise Canadian composer Thierry Tidrow’s arrangement of the Lady Dering songs with the ensemble.

Two performances: Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, 2026, both at 7:30 p.m.

In THE KING’S GRIEF, The Happenstancers present Judith Weir’s micro-opera King Harald’s Saga, punctuating Weir’s tragic narrative with the music of Thomas Adès, Oliver Knussen, Thierry Tidrow, Mary Dering, John Dowland, and casting the works as incidental music within a larger drama.

The Happenstancers: Reilly Nelson, voice; Julia Mirzoev, violin; Peter Eom, cello; Brad Cherwin, artistic director and clarinets; Declan Scott, flugelhorn; Joonghun Cho, keyboards; Billy Wong, lighting; Hoi Tong Keung, production and operations manager.
